Updated Terms of Use and Privacy Policy

Accelerate your research

We are writing to inform you about updates to our Terms and Privacy Policy. These changes are to support our evolving business and new features, and to address upcoming laws and regulations. Among other things:

  • The new terms further describe and help facilitate Academia.edu's existing features. For example, how Academia.edu can display your profile information to other users: to facilitate features like citation alerts and profile sharing.
  • The new terms cover how people can use Academia.edu's new AI features, such as podcasts. For instance, if you upgrade to get a podcast, the license says that you can share the podcast in other platforms, in a non-commercial way.

What hasn't changed:

  • Your papers and your profile information remain yours.
  • Our mission is, and always has been, to help researchers share and discover research.

We encourage you to review the updated Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

You can review details on how AI products, such as Podcasts and Summaries, are created, including details on how to opt-out, at our Help Center.

By using your account you agree to these updated Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

Thank you for contributing to Academia.edu's mission to accelerate the world's research.

Do links from guest posts even work? Here's what we learned

Every day I literally get 100s of emails asking if I accept guest posts on NeilPatel.com. I get it... people want the link juice. But do these guest posting links even help? Because if I was Google it's not hard to see if a linking page contains words like: guest post, guest author, guest contributor, etc. So we decided to analyze 1091 sites that accept guest posts to see what their impact is on rankings. Here's what we learned . The results were interesting and different than one would expect. Cheers, Neil Patel PS: As a general rule of thumb if you build links through guest posts make sure you get them nofollowed.
